2015 Ritchie Vineyard Chardonnay
95 pts Wine Enthusiast
Our 2015 Chardonnay is full bodied like last year's debut release, but with brighter acidity, and a very present apple-honeysuckle flavor profile. We recommend serving our Chardonnay at 48°F ... and enjoy the surprise that comes next!
Our 2015 Russian River Valley Chardonnay is sourced from the legendary Ritchie Vineyard, a vineyard that was planted in 1971 and is widely-recognized to be amongst some of the very best Chardonnay sites in the country. The Old Wente clone (on AXR-1 rootstock) Chardonnay is grown on the rolling hillsides of the Russian River Valley. The Sandy Goldridge Loam soils that the Chardonnay grapes are grown on originated from an archaic seabed containing tuffaceous volcanic pumice deposits mixed with small pebbles. The oceanic coastal breezes deliver cooling fog in the mornings and evenings, creating idyllic balanced growing conditions. This combination brings forth an exceptionally unique “Grand Cru” site that produces wines of intense character and complexity.
