"The 2018 Cabernet Franc from Hertelendy is a complete knockout. This begins to impress with its profound aromatics of ripe blackberries, crème de cassis and blueberries that are accented by exotic spices, espresso, violets, toasted coconut and mocha which all come together and leap from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and multi-layered, possessing remarkable depth and concentration while maintaining beautiful balance. It goes on to deliver layers of ripe dark fruits that expand seamlessly through the long, opulent finish. Overall this is a flat-out delicious wine, which will be very accessible young, but should also evolve for many years in the cellar." — International Wine Report, 98 Points

"
A blend of 75% Cabernet Franc, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Cabernet Franc Heavy Metal needs a little coaxing to draw out its amazing perfume of black raspberries, boysenberries, wild blueberries and kirsch with fragrant suggestions of rose oil, cedar chest, sandalwood, cloves and cinnamon stick and a waft of pencil lead. The medium to full-bodied palate explodes with intense red and black fruit flavors plus exciting tension and a rock-solid, fine-grained texture, finishing with epic floral and exotic spice fireworks." — Robert Parker, 97 Points

"A blend of 75% Cabernet Franc, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 1% each of Merlot and Petit Verdot, the 2018 Cabernet Franc gives up a classic Franc nose of darker, black fruits, scorched earth, dark chocolate, and flowers. These carry to a full-bodied, elegant wine with plenty of mid-palate concentration, ripe, present tannins, a solid spine of acidity, and nicely integrated oak. It's another gorgeous wine from this team that's going to evolve for 15+ years." Jeb Dunnuck, 95+ Points

The medium to full-bodied palate explodes with intense red and black fruit flavors plus exciting tension and a rock-solid, fine-grained texture, finishing with epic floral and exotic spice fireworks. Ralph Hertelendy, an ex-sommelier and entrepreneur, is a young, creative, relative newcomer to Napa Valley. He has a small vineyard at the base of Howell Mountain and a keen eye for sourcing fruit from around the valley. The consultant winemaker here is the well-grounded, incredibly experienced Phillip Corallo-Titus, winemaker for Chappellet and his own Titus label. Together, Ralph and Phillip make for an extraordinary combination of complements and contrasts. Besides maybe being the coolest label in the Valley, this Heavy Metal is a testament to the huge potential for Napa Valley Cabernet Franc and a total rock-star wine!" — Robert Parker Wine Advocate, 97 Points
