Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
"The 2019 Cabernet Franc is deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a good amount of swirling to unlock notes of chocolate-covered cherries, blackberry compote, and blueberry preserves, leading to suggestions of wild roses, charcoal, and Sichuan pepper with an alluring touch of jasmine tea. The structure on the full-bodied palate is rock solid and beautifully defined, nicely framing the opulent black fruits and floral layers, finishing with epic length and depth. This is stunning." — The Wine Independent, Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Master of Wine), 99 Points
Awards
"The 2019 Cabernet Franc is a blend of 75% Cabernet Franc, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple in color, it leaps from the glass with alluring scents of crushed black cherries, kirsch and blueberry preserves, plus hints of pencil shavings, cinnamon stick and damp soil, with a waft of wild sage. Medium to full-bodied, it has a firm, grainy texture and beautifully bright acidity supporting the red and blue fruit layers, finishing on a lingering fragrant earth note. Vineyard Notes
"The 2019 Hertelendy Cabernet Franc; this wine is deep ruby in color. Open-knitted immediately out of the gate, the aromatics are not shy. The nose is bright with aromas of blackberry and dark raspbery accompanied by a very light woodsy spice. The focus here is clearly on the purity of the fruit with the barrel influences a complementing character. Some of the flavors are mirrored on the palate including red and darker fruits. The tannins are woven tightly with a gravelly texture. The flavors including red cherry, raspberry and currant parralel the tannins for some time. The finish is more red fruited than dark. Bright and alive this wine has plenty of life ahead of it with the proper cellaring. The refreshing and vibrant finish begs another sip." — Napa Wine Project
