While I was content with the 30-year old vines of Ritchie Vineyard, I firmly believed that Woolsey Road Vineyard’s old vines better aligned with our classic, opulent, 1990’s-esque style. Be sure to chill it down until the lions change color, and then you’ll know you’re at the proper serving temperature! Similar to previous vintages, it is medium to full-bodied, unfined, unfiltered, and using native yeast, it is interlaced between coastal mineral salinity, bright acidiy, and tropical notes of creamy Maui pineapple, guava, and melon with creme brulee on the long lasting finish. 89 cases produced.

"The 2019 Chardonnay Ritchie Vineyard rolls out with exuberant scents of ginger ale, nutmeg, and juicy Bosc pears, followed by suggestions of orange blossoms, lime cordial, and sea spray. It begins with a gorgeous aromatic profile of crisp Asian pears, pineapple and Meyer lemons which are laced with hints of honeysuckle and a lovely mineral note. On the palate this possesses a beautiful textural richness with outstanding overall balance and focus. It offers a rich, yet vibrant core that is laced with delicious ripe fruit flavors which are underlined by a lovely combination of acidity and minerality keeping it fresh and inviting through the finish. "The 2019 Hertelendy Chardonnay Woolsey Vineyard Sonoma County is dark gold; this wine showcases the consistent Hertelendey ripe fruited and aromatic richness he gets from the variety. The bouquet offers stone fruit flavors of apricot, peach, yellow nectarine along with crème Brule, butterscotch and caramel. There is also a nutty character including of hazelnut along with a complementary note of toasted oak. However the focus is on the ripeness and richness of the fruit rather than any overt oaky influences. This wine showcases both a brightness and richness but also an elegance. Ralph has noticed this vineyard consistently produces notes of chamomile regardless of vintage. The palate highlights flavors of apricot and pineapple and lingers with a light note of toasted oak. Rounded and supple. This bottling was the 10th year anniversary of Hertelendy Chardonnay; in order to differentiate this significance, the bottle was sealed with wax. This wine spent 17 months aging in mostly new French oak barrels." — Napa Wine Project
