By popular demand, this 2020 Audēre Red Blend (77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot) best-seller is topping the charts with a total production of 349 cases.  23 months barrel aged in 90% New French and Hungarian Oak, in typical bold fashion, it comes out guns blazing with lots of extract, some serious tannin, and a full-bodied mouthfeel. The 2020 Audēre Red Blend is comprised of our ultra premium Rockwell Ridge estate vineyard (planted in 1993 at 1365 feet, 35 ft below the Howell Mountain AVA) in addition to Coombsville, Atlas Peak, & Silverado Bench fruit. It is an exuberant, rich wine with notes of dark cherry liqueur, black currants, violets and a mocha crème brûlée finish. “The 2020 ‘Audere’ Red Blend is a success in this vintage. As this slowly unwinds in the glass it begins to release aromas black cherries, cassis and hints of black raspberries which are accented by spices, roasted coffee, wild herbs, iron and hints of licorice. On the palate this possesses a full body with a nicely structured backbone, supported by well-integrated tannins that are round and velvety. This goes on to display notable concentration with an expressive character, showing plenty of dark cherries, spices, iron and a touch of crushed gravel that take it through the finish. The 2020 ‘Audere’ will be open for business on release but should also offer a drinking window that could span over a decade. This evolves beautifully with air, so be sure to allow it some time in the decanter if approaching on release.” — International Wine Report, 93 Points
